HOLD
IT! You may be exercising wrong!
Do
machine-based movements dominate your workout routine?
Do
you perform the same cardio workout over and over again?
Are
you neglecting balancing out your body's strength & flexibility?
Is
a lack of "core" integrity hampering your progress?
Do
you feel that you are not fully realizing your body's potential?
It's
time for you to make a change!
RESULTS-BASED
People enlist the help of fitness
professionals because they want results, plain and simple. Those
results may mean body fat loss, recovery from injury, improved self-concept, increased strength, or a stronger more stable
core. The results you seek may be something completely different! Results are specific to each individual, and are brought about through planning. Goal-setting is imperative in any exercise program. After
all, why put forth the time and effort when you don’t get anything in return?
My job is to help you to set attainable, realistic goals and then follow through with a plan of action to reach them.
As it was once said, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Set a goal, work towards it, and realize your potential!
INTEGRATED
A well-rounded, integrated
fitness program can be viewed as the “finished puzzle” that is composed of several interdependent “pieces.”
Your level of fitness and individual characteristics will determine your rate of progression as well as emphasis on specific
training outcomes. The days of traditional, bodybuilding-style workouts are long gone.
Through an innovative, more intelligent approach to each workout, you will not only progress faster
towards your goals, but stay motivated and challenged as well.
This ain't your grandmother's workout!!
PHYSIQUE
Webster defines the physique
as being “the form or structure of a person’s body.” Let’s
face it – we all want to look our best, as a great deal of our self-concept is tied to our appearance. The human body is the most intricate, well-designed machine known to man.
Picture a sports car, such as a Ferrari, parked next to a Hummer. Both
vehicles have distinctively different chassis. Human bodies come in all shapes
and sizes. Some of us are Ferraris, while others are Hummers! Every one of us has a unique “chassis” that must withstand the test of everyday life and all
its demands. We fitness professionals view the human body as one functional
unit, often called the “kinetic chain.” The kinetic chain is comprised
of the soft tissue system (muscle, ligament, tendon, and fascia), neural system, and articular system. Each system must work in synergy with the others to allow structural
and functional efficiency. If any of the systems do not work efficiently, compensations
and adaptations occur in the other systems which can lead to overload, decreased performance, and injury.
It doesn’t matter if you have
a Hummer-body or a Ferrari-body - why not train your body to look and perform at its best?
TRAINING
No two people are the same,
therefore, why would they be following the same exercise program? Having
been in the fitness industry for over ten years, I find it unsettling that an alarming number of Personal Trainers simply
do not have the working knowledge, expertise, and experience required to design and implement safe and effective programs
for their clients. Not only does this put people's safety at risk, but it also
is a waste of their time and money. Many trainers are content to waste their client’s sessions by turning their
paid time into “social hour” and playing the role of “rep counter.” If
this is what you are seeking from a Personal Trainer, then perhaps I am not the one for you! I am passionate about what
I do, and this shows in my desire to exceed the expectations of my clients.
In my opinion, a fitness professional's
role demands going above and beyond the standard expectations - truly serving a purpose in
facilitating positive change in people's lives. Fitness professionals "wear many hats," so to speak - we are
experts in enhancing physical performance, we are educators, and we are motivators. I also believe that true fitness
professionals "walk the talk" by
being living, breathing examples of good health. After all, if you can't implement sound health and fitness strategies into
your own life, then how can you expect to help other people do the same? I take great pride in my responsibilities
as a fitness professional.

Watch what you do, your actions
become habits."
